About Our Club
The International Harvester Collectors Club (IHCC) provides a worldwide collector's network for the preservation of the history, products, literature and memorabilia of the International Harvester Company.

ihccThe International Harvester Collectors Club was organized July, 1990. Currently there are over 5,600 members from 49 states and several other countries. There are 35 active chapters sanctioned to promote local involvement, with interest in chapters continually expanding.
The purpose of the club is to: Establish the International Harvester Collectors as an identity to which collectors of IH products can relate; promote IH collecting, restoration and show displays through communication among members; help preserve, research and complete the history of the IH Company; and shows that feature IH with a file of member's show pieces; and hold a large annual show (Red Power Roundup) in conjunction with an IH feature at a different host show each year.

PlowingNational Club member benefits: National members receive a quarterly full color publication, Harvester Highlights, which provides information on club business; reports from various committees; up coming show listings; news from chapters; feature stories; restoration information and limited free publication of wanted and for sale ads. Insurance is provided for members at club-sanctioned shows.
Besides the annual summer show, there is a Winter Convention with a banquet for members. An all-IH auction supported by the chapters is held in a different state each year. The club also supports displays at local farm shows. More information about the national organization, including a membership application, is available from the national web site, click here.

Tractors in the fieldPurpose and Benefits of Chapter 8 of SE PA: Our chapter promotes IH collection, restoration and show displays, and supports the national organization. We hold 11 monthly meetings each year with six devoted to educational, informative and fellowship while the remaining are for business and fellowship. Our chapter supports three main events each year: Our Chapter 8 Annual Show in May; The Rough and Tumble Threshermen's Reunion in August; and Rough and Tumble's "Time of Harvest" in October. Our newsletter is sent to each member four times a year to keep them informed about chapter happenings.

Chapter #8 Monthly Meeting Minutes March 10, 2011

The meeting was called to order by Rick Jacobs at 7:35pm with 13 members present.   Roger Dietrich reported that his contact for an internal audit recommended that a do it yourself review should be satisfactory.   Gary Ravert reported that he has not been able to nail down a time for the restorer to examine our fridge.   On last Saturday at the R&T workday Jere Wissler and Don Morgan went through all the manuals kept for a reference library and made a list of equipment catagories.   Jere reported that much more work would be needed to completely organize the collection.   Jere also reported that he had a meeting next week with an insurance company about Officers&Directors insurance for our club with more to be discussed at the next board meeting.

Our spring show will feature Cub Cadets and Scouts.  We will attempt to have a Navistar Lonestar Truck and a restored Scout at show through the loan of a local dealership.   We will also ask Hoober’s dealership to loan a CaseIH tractor to R&T for a pull back tractor in their tractor pull.    Remember R&T workdays for April and May are for tractor maintenance.    The show layout will be different this year with more signs to direct visitors through the show.   No one has volunteered to replace Carl Keeler as Show Chairman yet.   The position is open!   Planning for the 2012 show should start soon after this years show.

The annual Show Book is in so a Club Trailer sign up sheet is coming for the next  meeting as well as a demo of the trailer set up for volunteers, all members are welcome to help.   Our members showed interest in making a display at Steam-O-Rama as IH is featured at their show this year.  Local Plant Tours (CNH, Lukens, Mack) are on hold for now as they are only currently given during the day in the middle of the week.   Roger Dietrich suggested that we need more young active members to keep our club going strong.

This month Roger Dietrich gave a talk on his current restoration project through the winter.  After deciding not to heat both his house and his workshop for the whole winter he said “cabin fever” set in and he had to get a jump on his spring projects.

So after experimenting in the kitchen sink with many cleaners he found that regular dish soap and elbow grease worked the best to clean the plastic grill top from his 385.   He found that bleach worked best on the rubber headlight mounts.  With a felt tip pen and clear coat spray he made the IH emblem look factory fresh.   Using a mild rust removing acid and 180 grit wet sanding paper he refinished several sheet metal covers, painting them with spray cans in the basement.   His daughter visited soon after and couldn’t smell any paint fumes so he may use the basement to paint again.   Finally he found a way to protect his new finish from scratches with thin plastic washers under the quick release mounting bolts.   Thanks Roger for  the“Tech Talk”!   Volunteers needed for monthly “Tech Talks”.   Carl Keeler made a motion to adjourn and Gary Ravert seconded at 8:35pm.

                                                                                  Respectfully Submitted,

                                                                                  Steven W. Lewis
